This is Us – Amazon
A heartwarming comedy-drama from America that comes with rave reviews. This is Us follows the Pearsons, a family of five, three siblings and their parents, as they navigate the twists and turns of life as we know it. The present moment is carefully intertwined with the character’s childhoods, showcasing the many highs and lows that life can throw at you. We can guarantee you won’t be able to pick a favourite character or episode in this highly entertaining, lighthearted series.
The Crown – Netflix
The hit royal drama series is back, and with the much-anticipated arrival of Princess Diana, Camilla Parker Bowles and Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher. Taking us through the eighties to the poll tax riots of the early nineties, we see the return of our favourites Olivia Colman, Helena Bonham Carter, and Josh O’Connor as they handle engagements, weddings and family turmoil as the famous royal family in this gripping series. Set in lavish surroundings, The Crown seamlessly blends historical facts around the Falklands war and the 1984 miners’ strike, with high-quality drama.
The Prom – Netlix
Bringing much-needed musical joy, The Prom sees a set of Broadway performers travel to Indiana to offer support to a desperate teen fan. With prom season underway, the teenager in question has been unfairly banned from bringing her girlfriend to the high school dance, so spirits need to be lifted. With a show-stopping cast of Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and James Corden, expect musical highs and lots of good vibes.
Vikings – Amazon
For those who are missing Game of Thrones, Vikings focuses on the Norse legend Ragnar Lothbrok and his inevitable rise to head of the kingdom. Full of historical facts, we highly recommend for viewers with an interest in the Nordic gods, as well as action packed adventures. Expect epic battles set in scenic nature with plenty of shocking twists.
The Boys – Amazon
Add a dose of superheroes to your weekday with The Boys. This isn’t your usual superhero storyline, in fact, a sinister corporation owns the team of superheroes, and each ‘hero’ is in fact an awful person. This is where the rival group comes in, to take down the popular superheroes who clearly don’t deserve the praise. With season two just released, it’s a fresh new take on the classic genre, expect violent scenes and lots of unexpected humour in this Amazon special.
