The Perfect TV To Fall Asleep To

Here at TV Bed Store, we thought it would be interesting to conduct some very (un) scientific research around what the best TV to fall asleep to is. We’ve all been there – it’s the end of a hectic day and sometimes all you really want to do is watch some TV and fall asleep. If you have invested in a TV Bed you’re obviously serious about your tele, so we want to give you the perfect complement to your bedtime experience, so in no particular order, here’s our top five:

1) Friends

Friends’ is like a gentle cuddle from the 90’s. Ross, Phoebe, Monica, Rachel, Chandler, and Joey seem to be the perfect way for us to fall asleep, probably because we have seen most of the episodes many, many times before.

2) Gilmore Girls

Extremely cheesy? Absolutely, good fall asleep tele? 100%. In our opinion, the trials and tribulations of Lorelai and Rory are a great way to drift into the land of nod. There’s nothing too challenging or exciting going on here, which is often exactly what you want.

3) Law & Order – SUV

The content of this show is a little grittier and can be quite compelling but we think there’s something that just sends us to sleep in it that we just can’t put our finger on. If you haven’t seen it, try it — you won’t believe how a show with ICE T playing a New York cop investigating serious crimes can send you to sleep, but believe us, it works!

4) Book at Bedtime

OK, we thought we’d throw a curve ball in here. Book at bedtime is a radio show but as your TV Bed is probably a smart TV and connected to the web you can easily access radio stations through it too. Book at Bedtime is on Radio 4 and has been running since 1949. Broadcast between 10:45 and 11 pm, books are abridged and serialised over one or two weeks. It’s a bit like ‘Jackanory’, for grown-ups.

5) The Blue Planet

Actually, this could be anything containing the soothing tones of David Attenborough but, in our humble opinion, Blue Planet has to take it. There’s something incredibly soothing (and sleep-inducing) around watching sea creatures. The combination of Attenborough’s voice, coupled with the sound of the sea never fails to send us soundly to sleep.
